5 things they won’t tell you about Milan

People in Milan are strange. Sometimes I don’t think they are really too busy, nor cynical and shy or distracted. They’re just very jealous of the secrets of their city. And if you want, you must discover them all by yourself.
Some of the locals (or adopted locals) will talk you about sophisticated places like Martini Terrace at the Top of the Pirellone and the Branca Tower, to see the city from above drinking a cocktail but… I think these are but ways to distract you with a couple of very over rated things in the most under rated City of Europe.
You’ll find so many things with no labels in their names that will bewitch you. Let’s see them together…

1- The witches of brera
I always wondered why, in such a rational, efficient, fast city, there is a very central street with a real consortium of fortune tellers, lined up among people, restaurants and candy shops. Nobody has never given me an answer, but I suggest you to go there and let your future be told to you…

2 – If you have the excuse or the opportunity to visit the national communication Office of Intercultura, in Corso Magenta, ask them to go to the toilet. Then, open the window and you’ll see one of the most amazing roof-landscape of Italy. Among those roofs, the one of Santa Maria delle Grazie.

Milan, Piazza dei mercanti, summer nights

3 – The jugglers of Piazza Mercanti. This pedestrian area is crazily crowded during the day and becomes a desert after the shops close. And there is a group of young people that, in the summer nights, don’t go to navigli (the pubs area of the city, where you eat and drink while mosquitos will eat and drink you), but meet here to learn and teach juggling games.

4 – The story-shutters of Corso di Porta Ticinese.
This is just another place that becomes something else during the night. Before midnight, plenty of lined beer/wine shops, pubs, pizzerias. When they close, they become a book you’ll walk in. And if you read them, you’ll find a part of your story, I’m sure of it.
